What happens when you sprinkle an old fairy tale with class war magic dust?

I wasn’t sure this story would ever find a home, given that it doesn’t really fit neatly in the retelling of fairy stories groove or the political satire groove. However, I’m pleased to say that World of Myth liked it and published it in their April 2023 issue. In fact, they liked it enough to have it as the ‘featured story’.
